SOLAS and the ISPS Code 

Following the attack on the World Trade Centre, New York on 11 September 2001, the IMO brought out new regulations to deal with security on certain categories of vessels and the port facilities with which they interface.These regulations, amendments to SOLAS Chapter XI-1 & 2, and the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code, Parts A and B, were issued in December 2002 and became effective from 1 July 2004.
